The benefits of using Wood Pellets can be shown to both society and the environment. Wood Pellets can be cheaper and cleaner than using fossil fuels.

The environmental benefits of Wood Pellets

Carbon Reduction-  CO2 is taken from the atmosphere by trees  during their life which  is released back when burnt or during the natural process of decay.  Even allowing for the carbon produced in planting harvesting sawing and transportation of timber and the manufacture and delivery of pellets, it is estimated that the net reduction in CO2 emissions is 90% better when comparing the use of Wood Pellets to Fossil Fuels.

Log fires were the main source of heat until people started using  coal in the 1600's  prior to the availability of Oil & Gas.  Compared to the traditional open fires with up to 85% of useful heat  being lost up the chimney  the modern pellet stove is very energy efficient.

Wood Pellets are clean

Unlike most other fuels wood pellets are environment clean, when spilt they can be collected and used as fuel or compost, when burnt the ash produced can be used in the garden as a fertilizer.

Wood is a renewable fuel

The British Government along with many others ensures that timber harvesting  never removes trees faster from the forest  than it is added to by natural growth, modern plantation methods make it possible to plant and harvest forests within a 30 year cycle.

Our pellets are manufactured from timber waste products produced through industrial processes, which in the past would have been burnt on open fires or land-filled. Whilst timber is used as a building and fencing material, there will always be off-cuts etc to feed the likes of pellet production

PelletWhat are the benefits?

Wood was used to produce heat long before fossil fuels became readily available. Its popularity is returning for several reasons:

  1. Recent huge increases in fossil fuel prices, with worries of supplies running out or rationed.
  2. Damage caused to the environment by use of fossil fuels.
  3. Wood is "Carbon neutral". In that CO2 is taken from the atmosphere by trees during their life which is released back when burnt or during the natural process of decay. In a sustainably managed forest, wood is never removed faster than it is added by new growth.
  4. Wood Pellets are easily stored and transported either by bag or in bulk.
  5. Modern Pellet Boilers can be as easy to use as an oil burner. They can be thermostatically controlled with automatic ignition and a feed system that conveys product from either an internal or external store as required.
  6. Pellets have a low moisture content resulting in high use of energy value.
  7. Minimal ash.
  8. Wood in pellet form is an appropriate form of fuel for residential or commercial buildings of all sizes.
